Traffic will be detoured around a section of Union Avenue in Ross Township starting Monday morning for bridge work, PennDOT announced.

Beginning at 7 a.m. April 5, Union Avenue, or Route 4012, will be closed to traffic between Edies Way and Williams Street through late May.

Crews are replace the existing structure that spans Spruce Run with a reinforced concrete pipe culvert, according to Steve Cowan, a spokesman for the agency.

The posted detour for the project will take motorists northbound along Union Avenue, which becomes Gass Road; then left onto Ben Avon Heights Road, which becomes New Brighton Road and leads back onto Union.

The same detour is followed for southbound traffic.
