North Hills residents didn’t have to travel all the way to San Diego, Calif., for the annual Comic-Con to celebrate their love for all things nerdy.

On Saturday July, 20, Northland Public Library in McCandless held its first own version of the international convention dubbed “Northland Nerdcon.”

The day-long celebration of superheroes and wizards included panel discussions about writing science fiction and other topics.

Participants were invited to dress up as a character from a movie, book or videogame for a cosplay contest; and got the chance to show off their skills during video-gaming competitions.
