As coronavirus cases begin to rise more slowly in Allegheny County and across the country, communities in the North Hills are also seeing their numbers rise less sharply.

As of Jan. 27, there have been 1,917 total cases of the novel coronavirus in Ross Township since March, according to the latest information provided by an interactive Allegheny County covid-19 map. Seventy deaths have been reported, and 9,666 tests have been administered to Ross residents.

In that same timeframe, McCandless has reported 1,413 cases and 64 deaths; Franklin Park has reported 707 cases and 15 deaths; Bellevue has reported 388 cases and two deaths, Ohio Township has reported 361 cases and two deaths; Marshall has reported 351 cases and one death; West View has reported 307 cases and one death; and Bradford Woods has reported 56 cases and no deaths.

Based on population, Ohio Twp. has the highest case rate of all of the North Journal’s communities at 759 per 10,000 residents.
