North Allegheny senior high students moving to remote learning for remainder of week because of covid cases
Students attending in-person instruction at North Allegheny Senior High School will revert back to virtual instruction for the remainder of the week after seven positive covid-19 cases were reported during a 14-day period, district officials announced.
High school athletics and activities will resume on Saturday and the ACT exam scheduled for Feb. 6 will be conducted.
Students are scheduled to return to in-person instruction on Monday, Feb. 8.
Senior high students who attend the A.W. Beattie Career Center also will participate in their classes remotely. Students at intermediate high school and the cyber academy who attend Beattie will participate in their regularly scheduled in-person classes.
The district’s bus service to the career center will run as scheduled.
Since the start of the school year, there have been 245 covid-19 cases in the district, including 17 that were active as of Feb. 3. Of the total number of cases reported, 167 students and 78 staff members were infected with the coronavirus.
Sixty-six of the 245 cases were at the senior high school and 45 were at the intermediate high school.
