The North Allegheny School District has scheduled an in-person graduation ceremony to honor the class of 2020 at Newman Stadium.
The ceremony, which begins at 7 p.m. July 17, will include a procession, speeches by students and staff, performances and recognition of individual students. Graduates will receive their diplomas during the ceremony.
Due to the state-mandated shutdown during the coronavirus pandemic, the district held a virtual commencement on June 17.
If state guidelines requires cancellation of the July 17 ceremony, the district plans to hold the event in the fall.
During the in-person graduation ceremony, students will be required to stay 6-feet apart and wear masks.
To allow for social distancing in the stadium, each graduate will be limited to two guests. Families also must remain 6-feet apart in the stands and wear masks.
Guests can begin entering the stadium at 5:30 p.m.
The ceremony will be displayed on large screens in the stadium and live-streamed on the district’s website, where additional details about the event can be viewed.
Concession stands will be closed. Each student and guest will receive a water bottle when they enter the stadium and are welcome to bring their own.
The rain date for the ceremony is July 18, but a time has not yet been set.
