The chairman and vice-chairman of Marshall’s five-member board of supervisors were both re-elected to one-year terms during the township’s annual reorganization meeting.

Thomas Madigan was elected unanimously. No other supervisors were nominated for the position.

Also receiving a unanimous vote at the Jan. 4 meeting to serve again as vice chairman was Philip Troy. He, too, was the only supervisor nominated for the post.

The board chair presides over supervisors’ meetings and often serves as the lead contact person for the five members. The vice chair serves when the chair is absent.

The board appointed the following people to serve on various volunteer commissions, board and advisory committees:

• Planning Commission: John Jester, four-year term

• Zoning Hearing Board: Gregg Otto, three-year term

• Sanitary Authority: Bob Edwards, five-year term

• Vacancy Board: Sheryl Snyder, one-year term

• Recreation and Parks Advisory Committee: Eoin Gormley, Pat Danahey, Jean Hershberger and Dawn Davies were unanimously appointed to three-year terms. Emily Skapov was appointed to a three-year term retroactive to January 2020.

• North Allegheny Recreation Board: Jessica Drozd, one-year term.

The supervisors also reappointed the manager and 17 other department directors and administrative staff and approved their salaries, which are included in this year’s budget.

A dozen other appointments were made for contracted service providers and non-compensated positions as residential and commercial building inspector, solicitor and fire marshal.

Additionally, supervisors approved the meeting calendar for the remainder of the year. Supervisors’ meetings will be held on the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. with the exception of April, July and September, when the meetings will be conducted on the second Monday at 7.

The board will hold its agenda meetings at 7 p.m. on the last Monday of the month except in May and December, when they meet on the fourth Monday.
