Applications are open for vendors for the Cranberry Township’s farmers market. Starting June 4, the farmers market will take place every Friday from 3-7 p.m. in the front parking lot of the Cranberry Twp. Municipal Building.

Carnegie Science Center’s Lettuce Grow Together! program

The Carnegie Science Center is teaming up with North Hills Community Outreach to broadcast three Facebook Live events that will explore the science behind gardening and healthy eating.

The following virtual events will be hosted on Carnegie Science Center’s Facebook page and will be available on the Science Center’s YouTube channel following the livestream:

• Harvesting Lettuce and Making a Salad, April 21 at 11 a.m. Learn how to seed, grow, and harvest lettuce to make a delicious and nutritious salad.

• Apiaries and Bees, May 19 at 11 a.m. Take a virtual tour of North Hills Community Outreach’s apiary and learn about the relationship between bees and plants.

Spring brush chipping

Spring brush chipping in Franklin Park will begin the week of April 5. The chipping service is for brush and tree trimmings only.

The Public Works Department will make one pass through the borough to chip any brush/tree trimmings residents have placed at the curb. All brush must be at the curb by 7 a.m. April 5.

Free compost in McCandless

Leaf mulch for residents will be available at the parking lot between the McCandless/Northern Allegheny Heritage Center and the Lorraine G. Rogers Soccer Fields this spring. Delivery of the mulch will take place on April 9. Compost will not be available until after 3 p.m. on those dates. Residents are asked to take only one pickup truckload of mulch, which will be available until it is gone.
