A basketball program at Holy Cross Academy in Ross is suspended over covid-19 concerns, the Pittsburgh Diocese announced Monday.

The boys junior varsity A team moved to remote learning and won’t be able to hit the court until March 1.

The move comes after a covid-19 exposure, diocese officials said.

In-person learning and basketball activities will resume March 1.

School families were notified and will be updated as necessary.

“We are grateful to our parents who continue to be cooperative with our efforts in keeping our students and staff safe and healthy,” principal Patricia Osekowski said.

“We look forward to welcoming our students back into the classroom with in-person learning on March 1.”

Holy Cross students were forced to close once previously because of a covid-19 exposure.

The Academy closed in March 2020 after officials learned that a student may have been exposed to the coronavirus, possibly from a relative outside the school.
