Hampton is gearing up for a Community Day celebration that organizers said will not disappoint.

The Sept. 4 event offers a packed slate of activities for people of all ages, from food booths to games to live music.

After last year’s cancellation for covid-19 concerns, council President Mike Peters said he is eager to bring the celebration back to the community.

“This has been a township staple for many years,” he said. “We are expecting anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 people to attend. It is a big deal.”

Festivities kick off at 8:30 a.m. with the Hampton Rotary Firecracker 5k.

The cost for the 16th annual Firecracker 5k is $25. The course traverses the park, with medals for overall finishers and 12 age groups. Proceeds benefit educational and charitable activities through the Rotary.

After the race, from 1 to 8 p.m., the park grounds will be filled with food, activities and music.

Entertainment will be provided by local band No Bad JuJu from 2 to 4 p.m. and classic rock band America from 6 to 8 p.m.

Fireworks will follow the concerts.

Parking is available, and overflow parking will be at Hartwood Acres. Shuttles will begin at 3 p.m.
