Beginning July 12, the Depreciation Lands Museum in Allison Park will once again offer visitors a chance to experience life during the Colonial era.

The museum at 4743 South Pioneer Road in Hampton will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. every Sunday through October, with several fall events already scheduled. To allow for proper social distancing to slow the spread of coronavirus, the museum is instituting several changes.

The admission fee will be a “free will” donation that visitors can place directly in a collection box. The suggested donation is $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Walkways inside the museum’s buildings will be roped off to create distance between visitors and presenters. Guests are asked not to touch displays.

The following events have been scheduled:

Hydref — Oct. 3, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Hydref fall festival features reenactors, demonstrators, crafters, music and food.

Lantern Tours — Oct. 17 and 24, 6 to 9 p.m.

A quiet, family-oriented, historical alternative to Halloween. Learn about — and possibly catch a glimpse of — the museum’s benevolent resident ghost, the “Deacon.” Costumed guides and demonstrators will be featured in all the buildings.

More information about the museum and its events is available online or by calling 412-486-0563
