A woman died in a house fire Monday morning in McCandless, authorities said.

Faye Poshard, 68, was found dead in the home, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Neighbors reported the fire at a house on Knoll Street around 6:30 a.m., police said. Authorities noted that a hoarding situation inside the home made it difficult to reach Poshard. One firefighter was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor burns.

Peebles Volunteer Fire Chief Matt Williams told Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV the fire moved quickly.

“Crews tried to make entry through the front door and right away was hit with the hoarding conditions,” he said.

He told the TV station a dog and two cats also died in the fire.

The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating.
