Trick or Trot

North Allegheny Foundation will host its annual Trick or Trot on Oct. 29, 2022, at the Marshall Middle/Elementary schools campus.

The 5K Run begins at 8:30 a.m. with a 1-mile Fun Run at 9:30 a.m.

The NA Tiger Marching Band will perform at 9 a.m. and at 10 a.m. There will be a costume parade.

The cost to participate is $25 for the 5K Run and 1-mile Fun Run. Registration is open. For additional details, visit: https://www.northallegheny.org/trickortrot.

Roadside cleanup

The Town of McCandless is hosting a fall roadside cleanup on Oct. 15 and Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Safety vests, gloves and bags will be available for participants. Participants will meet at Devlin pavilion behind Town Hall at 8:30 a.m.

Those wishing to participate must complete a waiver form.

Sealarks Women’s Group

The Sealarks Women’s Group kickoff dinner will be held Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Church, 8800 Peebles Road in McCandless.

This group provides Christian fellowship and social activity for women alone – widowed, divorced or never married. All women alone are welcome to attend and consider joining the group.

Highpointe at Rebecca

Highpointe at Rebecca, a Concordia community, will host an Oktoberfest celebration on Oct. 27 from 4- 7 p.m. on its campus, located at 1871 Highpointe Lane in West Deer. The event is open to the community, and admission and parking are free.

Oktoberfest will feature live music from Mikey Dee, delicious food from a German-themed menu, a full dinner for $10, and tours of the campus and model apartments.

E-waste collection

Pennsylvania Resources Council will collect electronics for recycling on Tuesdays and Thursdays in October in North Park. Registration is required and currently open. Drop offs will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Tuesdays and 2-5 p.m. on Thursdays. At these collections, participants will pay a fee to dispose some materials (such as televisions and computer monitors) while other items (such as cell phones and computer towers) will be accepted for free. North Pittsburgh college fair

More than 120 colleges and universities will participate in the North Pittsburgh College Fair on Oct. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. The fair will take place in the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center at La Roche’s campus in McCandless. Admission and parking are free. Visit laroche.edu/npcf to view a full list of participating schools and learn how to register. One of the largest college fairs in Western Pennsylvania, the North Pittsburgh College Fair will host universities, colleges and technical schools from across the country.

President’s Challenge 5K Run/Walk/Wheel

The Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association will host the 22nd Annual President’s Challenge 5K Run/Walk/Wheel at 9 a.m. Oct. 8 at the North Park Boathouse.

The event benefits the Steelwheelers, an organization dedicated to providing programs for physically challenged athletes from Western Pennsylvania, Northern West Virginia and Eastern Ohio. It is a family-friendly and dog-friendly event. For more information or to register, visit wptla.org.
