Drive-thru fundraiser dinner planned
Shaler Garden Club is hosting a Valentine’s Day drive-thru dinner fundraiser from 3 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 12.
Catered by Heavenly Cuisine Custom Catering, meal pickups will be at Glenshaw Valley Presbyterian Church, 1520 Butler Plank Road.
The menu includes honey garlic glazed chicken breast, rice pilaf, buttered carrots, roll and butter, tossed green salad and chocolate pudding parfait.
The cost is $15 per meal payable with cash only at the time of pickup.

Free tax prep available
Free tax prep is available through the North Hills Community Outreach.
This is a seasonal program that helps low-income households who earn less than $57,000. The service is available through April 14.
A fully virtual option through an IRS approved website can be accessed at getyourrefund.org/nhco.
Limited contact options are available in Millvale with an appointment.

Shaler Area alumni Alex Ficorilli was inducted to the dean’s list at Clarion University.
Ficorilli earned at least a 3.5 GPA to be named to the dean’s list for the fall 2020 semester.
Candidates to be interviewed for new Etna committee
Etna council will interview 11 candidates for the newly formed human relations committee over the next couple of weeks.
Council is scheduled to appoint members during the next business meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 16.
Library to host virtual class on diabetes
The Shaler North Hills Library will host a virtual session on diabetes from 1 to 2 p.m. on Feb. 16.
The Allegheny Health Network Center for Diabetes and Endocrine Health is sponsoring the free class.
It will be led by Megan Watts, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator.

Ash Wednesday service set
Hampton Presbyterian Church will observe the first day of Lent on Feb. 17 with an Ash Wednesday worship service at 7:30 p.m.
Ashes will be distributed, pending restrictions.
The nursery is not available during covid-19 but small children are welcome to be with their families in the service. There are also locations throughout the building where the service will be livestreamed. The church is at 2942 East Hardies Road in Gibsonia.
Nonperishable items needed for food drive
Donations of nonperishable food items for the Shaler Area Backpack Initiative are accepted at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 66 Grant Ave., from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays.
The food program provides weekend meals to more than 100 children in kindergarten through eighth grade, dishing out easy-to-prep meals and single-serving snacks to ensure nutrition isn’t missed when kids are away from the classroom.
Financial donations can be made payable to Shaler Area School District with “Backpack Initiative” in the memo line and mailed to 1800 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, PA 15116.
Women’s Business Network meetings set
The Cranberry Chapter of the Women’s Business Network meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month at 7:30 a.m. in Cranberry United Presbyterian Church, 2662 Rochester Road, Cranberry.
