Annual farmers markets in Delmont and Murrysville will open in June, but with some special measures in place to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
• In Delmont, the market will be open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning June 13, and will add a curbside pickup option.
In-person shopping will still take place with proper social distancing measures at the Rose Wigfield Parklet, 27 Greensburg St. Attendees must wear masks. In addition, customers may not bring reusable bags, may not handle items they do not intend to purchase, and are not permitted to eat at the market.
Pets will not be permitted.
For curbside pickup, customers can turn onto Heaps Way from Greensburg Street to pick up pre-orders or to be assisted with curbside shopping. Cash payment for market items is preferred, according to organizer Amanda Bank.
• In Murrysville, the market will be open Thursdays, 3 to 7 p.m. beginning June 4, in the field by Murrysville VFD No. 1, 3235 Sardis Road.
Social distancing measures will apply and masks must be worn.
Some vendors are accepting pre-orders, and contact information is available at the Murrysville Recreation Department website. Weekly food trucks will be onsite, however eating at the market will not be permitted.
Recreation officials have not yet determined if the market’s Farmhouse Kids Club will be in operation this year, Director Carly Greene said.
