Grand jury to hear testimony over Pittsburgh Airbnb shooting
More than a year has passed since two people were killed and eight injured in a mass shooting at an Airbnb in Pittsburgh’s North Side, but now a grand jury will hear testimony and review evidence on the case, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV.
Mathew Steffy-Ross and Jaiden Brown, both 17, were killed in the April 17, 2022, shooting at a three-story building on Suismon Street near Madison Avenue. Partygoers fled into the streets and bullets flew into several nearby buildings. Eight other people were injured in the shooting.
No one has been charged and updates on the case have been scarce.
A family member of one of the victims told WPXI she is hopeful the grand jury will lead to answers.
“Whatever has brought it to this point, and whoever got it to this point, I’m grateful and thankful to them,” said Bonnie McLain, the great-aunt of Steffy-Ross.
Pittsburgh police have not released information about the grand jury case, and Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. declined comment, according to WPXI.
Matt Dugan, the Democratic nominee for Allegheny County district attorney, told WPXI that if he were elected he would conduct a “vigorous investigation” if the grand jury were to return an indictment in the case.

Police said dispatchers were notified of a shooting in the 2100 block of Noble Street just before 2:15 a.m.
