News briefs: Monroeville students make the dean's lists

Two students originally from Monroeville have made the dean’s list at their colleges for the 2020 fall semester.

To be named on the dean’s list, students typically need to carry a 3.5 GPA under 12 or more credits.

• Jonelle Menner: She is a senior at Hamilton College in New York, majoring in sociology. She graduated from Oakland Catholic High School.

• Megan Coates: She is a full-time student at Cedarville University in Ohio.

Fish fry planned

The Church if the Resurrection at 455 Center Road in Monroeville will host Lenten fish fries on Feb. 19, 26, March 5, 12, 19 and 26.

It is drive-thru only with a single menu item, a fish dinner with a sandwich, fries and coleslaw. The cost is $10.

Municipal vacancies

Monroeville Municipality has 22 vacancies across nine different boards, commissions and authorities, according to municipal records. Municipal Manager Tim Little said he is accepting letters of interest, along with resumes for the positions.

Church event planned

Monroeville Christian Church will host Oklahoma-based Creation Truth Foundation from April 18 to 21 at its location at 3780 Northern Pike.

The Creation Truth Foundation will bring its Mobile Museum of Earth History, which features fossils of dinosaurs and other artifacts. The church will also host Ryan Cox for a sermon series called “Dinosaurs, Design and Destiny.”

He will preach at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on April 18. He will also preach at 7 p.m. on April 19, 21 and 23.

Creation Truth Foundation will have books and videos available for purchase. The program is free.

The programs will be broadcast live on the church’s Facebook page and website.
