German will discuss the fledglings that have been hatched over the past few years, as well as their parents and the importance of biodiversity. This hybrid presentation on bald eagles is for nature lovers of all ages.

Individuals who attend in person will get a free eagle toy to take home. Patrons can join in person or online using the Zoom link on the library’s website, Monroevillelibrary.org.

Registration is not required.

Make your own dryer balls

Barb Grossman will help patrons reduce their carbon footprint by showing them how to make their own dryer balls from 1-3 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Monroeville Public Library.

Attendees will use fabric scraps to make dryer balls, which help reduce drying time and lower energy costs. They are an alternative for those allergic to wool or for vegans. Some simple hand stitching is required.

All necessary materials will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own or to browse the library’s fabric bank.

This in-person class is for ages 12 and older. Registration is required at monroevillelibrary.org or call 412-372-0500.

A visit From William Penn

The Monroeville Public Library will host a live visit from a William Penn reenactor from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 16.

Presented by Henry Bowden, Penn returns to his colony of Pennsylvania after 323 years to share his hopes and dreams for the people of his planned society. Penn was an advocate for democracy and religious freedom. He was known for his successful treaties with the Lenape Native Americans, who resided in present-day Pennsylvania prior to European settlement.

This is an all-ages, in-person event; registration is not required.
