Allegheny County Police are investigating a crash Saturday night in Monroeville that fatally injured a pedestrian.

According to the County Medical Examiner’s Office, the victim, Thomas Tate, 48, died shortly after 9:30 p.m. at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville — about a half hour after the crash. Officials didn’t list a hometown for Tate.

County police said 911 was notified of a vehicle striking a pedestrian in the 4000 block of William Penn Highway. First responders found the man in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, police said.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the county police tip line, 1-833-255-8477.
