Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, speaks Aug. 15 at the Lower Burrell VFW.

Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance is scheduled to appear Saturday in Monroeville.

Campaign officials announced he will take part in a town hall meeting set for 1 p.m. at the Monroeville Convention Center.

Doors will open at 9 a.m. for the event hosted by evangelical preacher and political blogger Lance Wallnau.

A link to get general admission tickets can be found on the campaign website.

Wallnau had been an early advocate for former President Donald Trump, predicting early on that Trump would win the 2016 election and then declaring Trump as a modern-day King Cyrus figure.

According to the Old Testament, Cyrus was anointed by God and freed the Jewish people from Babylonian captivity, even though he was not a believer in their faith.

According to Wallnau’s teachings, Trump is America’s Cyrus figure, chosen by God, to prevent an alleged cultural collapse.

Wallnau was a loud voice in supporting Trump’s false claims the 2020 election was stolen. He told CBS News this month “Jan. 6 was not an insurrection. It was an election fraud intervention.”

Matthew Taylor, an author and scholar at Baltimore’s Institute for Islamic, Christian and Jewish Studies, has called Wallnau one of the most effective evangelical figures in the nation boosting Trump. Taylor noted Wallnau has been extremely effective in getting his mass of followers to join him in venerating Trump.

In Indiana, Pa., on Monday, Trump spoke about needing Christians to come out and vote for him if he is going to retake the White House.

“Christians, we got to get the Christians to vote. Relatively, they don’t vote a lot. They go to church, and they love church and that’s great. But we got to get Christians, evangelicals,” Trump said at a rally on Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s campus. “If we had Christians voting in full strength, we couldn’t lose.”

Vance has made recent campaign stops in Pennsylvania, including in Berks County and Hershey.

In August, he visited the Lower Burrell VFW post for an invitation-only event.

Vance’s latest appearance comes after Trump, his running mate on the top of the Republican ticket, held events in Smithton and Indiana County on Monday.

Trump plans to return Oct. 5 to the Butler Farm Show grounds, where he was grazed by a bullet in an assassination attempt during a July 13 rally.
