Craft show scheduled

A fall craft and vendor show is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 8 at Divine Mercy Academy, 245 Azalea Drive, Monroeville.

Run for Rescue

Shelters Helpers of Pittsburgh and Monroeville Animal Shelter are hosting the second annual Run for Rescue from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 9 at Monroeville Community Park West, 2399 Tilbrook Road.

The benefit 5K run and 1-mile dog walk raises money to help animal rescues and shelters in the Pittsburgh area. In addition to the race there will be food, music, vendors, doggy ice cream, kids’ activities and more, and local rescues will be bringing dogs available for adoption.

Shelters Helpers was formed in 2017 to assist local shelters and rescues in the Pittsburgh area, through social media campaigns, fundraisers, volunteer work, fostering, payments towards vet bills and other forms of assistance. Every dollar raised goes to a rescue or shelter.

Bereavement Doulas fundraiser

Pittsburgh Bereavement Doulas will host a fundraiser, Light & Unite, Oct. 15 at the Villa at Springwood in Verona. The event will include a dinner buffet, dessert, and music by Pure Harmony Strings. There will also be a lotus candle lighting as part of the International Wave of Light, a world-wide candle-lighting and remembrance ceremony. Property appeal education forum

Allegheny County Controller Corey O’Connor will host a community town hall to share information and resources with residents on the property appeals process.

The event is scheduled for 6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at Penn Hills Library.

Brew to Brew 5K

The Murrysville-Export Rotary Club will partner with local breweries Devout, Yellow Bridge and Helltown to host the Brew to Brew 5K on Oct. 22 at Murrysville Community Park.

Proceeds will benefit local charities, with prizes awarded to first-place male and female runners in a 5K run/walk.
