Arts council schedules concert
The Monroeville Arts Council’s first summer concert will be a memorial tribute for three of its deceased members. Sheila Cartiff, Margaret Caine and Mary Lou Span will be honored and remembered.
Featuring the East Winds Symphonic Band, the concert is scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Community College of Allegheny County Boyce Campus Auditorium. The Monroeville Arts Council extends an invitation to the community to be part of the event. All those attending will be required to wear a face mask per Community College of Allegheny County directive.

Pandemic protection talk
Monroeville Public Library will host a pandemic protection talk at 9 a.m. July 24.
Counselor Eileen Colianni will discuss dealing with the psychological and spiritual challenges of the pandemic.
It is an online talk. The adult program is offered every Sunday in July.

CommUNITY Day set for July 30
The Monroeville Foundation hosts the fourth annual CommUNITY Day 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 30 at Monroeville Community Park West.
The event is presented by Highmark and AHN. Most of the activities take place at the soccer field.
Festivities begin in the morning with a run/walk. Registration opens at 8 o’clock, and the race starts at 9 by the park gazebo. Registration fee is $25.

Dances 4 Everyone event
A Dances 4 Everyone summer dance party is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Pitcairn Park Building, 557 Broadway Blvd., Pitcairn.
Individuals ages 17 and older are invited. The cost is $25 per individual and $15 per parent, chaperone or staff member. Discounts are available for families with more than one member who has a diagnosis.
Snacks include drinks (pop and water), chips, pretzels and cookies. Wheat-, gluten- and dairy-free pretzels and cookies are available.
The dance is sponsored by Therapy House in Tarentum, a clinic specializing in occupational, physical and speech therapy, along with special instruction and teaching. All staff members have clearances, including the disc jockey for the dance.

Hard-to-recycle collection
A Monroeville site is on the schedule for Pennsylvania Resources Council’s 2022 Hard-to-Recycle Collection campaign.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 30 at Next Tier Connect @ Pittsburgh East, 4350 Northern Pike, Suite 220.
Held in partnership with the Allegheny County Health Department, the PRC’s series of collections will enable recycling of a wide variety of items not accepted in curbside collection, such as e-waste, tires and small Freon appliances. Participants pay a fee to dispose of some materials, such as televisions and tires, while other items, including cellphones and computer towers, will be accepted for free.

Food truck, basket raffle
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is holding a food truck/basket raffle event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 30 at 4503 Old William Penn Highway in Monroeville, rain or shine.
Proceeds will go to Food for the Poor to help build sustainable housing in Haiti.
Craft show scheduled
Monroeville United Methodist Church is holding a craft show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 30, featuring more than 45 vendors with a spectacular array of local crafts, arts and merchandise. Light refreshments will be available for purchase.

Gateway ’72 50-year reunion
Gateway High School Class of 1972 will hold its 50-year reunion on Aug. 26 and 27.
Reunion events include a mixer at Pugliano’s Restaurant in Plum on Aug. 26, and a tour of the high school and dinner at Edgewood Country Club the following day.
