Mark your calendar for the Hard-to-Recycle collection event in Moroeville.

Hard-to-Recycle Collection event scheduled in Monroeville

A Monroeville site is on the schedule for Pennsylvania Resources Council’s 2022 Hard-to-Recycle Collection campaign.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 30 at Next Tier Connect @ Pittsburgh East, 4350 Northern Pike, Suite 220.

Held in partnership with the Allegheny County Health Department, the PRC’s series of collections will enable recycling of a wide variety of items not accepted in curbside collection, such as e-waste, tires and small Freon appliances. Participants pay a fee to dispose of some materials, such as televisions and tires, while other items, including cellphones and computer towers, will be accepted for free.

Friends of the Monroeville Public Library hosts Queen’s Jubilee

The Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II is being celebrated in London to mark 70 years of her reigning over the United Kingdom.

To honor the occasion, the Friends of the Monroeville Public Library group is partnering with the library to host a Queen’s Jubilee Tea fundraiser.

The event is scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. June 12 at the Pitcairn Park Building, 557 Broadway Blvd. A $35 donation includes tea sandwiches, beverages, cookie table, activities and more.

Wear your best hat or fascinator, or make one on site, for a chance to win a prize for the best. Raffle basket tickets and 50/50 tickets will be available for purchase.

Monroeville Christian Church schedules Bible school

Monroeville Christian Church, 3780 Northern Pike, will host vacation Bible school from 6 to 8:15 p.m. June 26 and 7 to 9 p.m. June 27 through 29.

Each night will feature classes for all ages, crafts, recreation and snacks.

East Suburban Citizen Advocacy to host 5K

East Suburban Citizen Advocacy will host its annual “Super Fun Run For Everyone 5K” on June 5 in Export.

Check-in for the 5K, which serves as a fundraiser for the nonprofit and helps further its mission of enhancing the lives of those with disabilities, will be at 8 a.m. by the Westmoreland Heritage Trail access in Export, by the borough’s red caboose. The race will start at 9 a.m.

Women’s Business Network meetings scheduled

Women’s Business Network is an award-winning business association that supports growth of women in business, including the group’s first educational conference, scheduled for June 18 in downtown Pittsburgh. For more information, visit www.wbninc.com.

Yard sale benefits nonprofit Military Connections

Nonprofit Military Connections will hold its annual yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 4 and 1 to 4 p.m. June 5 at Living Word of Plum Church, 200 Elicker Road, Plum. On June 5 there will be a $5 bag sale.

The sale will feature more than 20 tables of items, with proceeds going to Military Connections’ mission of sending care packages to soldiers stationed overseas.
