Gateway students participate in 1 Million Book Giveaway

Gateway High School students announced that they will be joining over 30,000 high school students nationwide in an effort to give 1 million books to underserved youth in their local communities in 43 States as part of Chick-fil-A Leader Academy, a national high school leadership program.

Students took part in a Chick-fil-A Leader Academy Kickoff Experience featuring the 1 Million Book Giveaway service project, which is sponsored by Chick-fil-A Inc. Gateway High School is giving away hundreds of books to the kindergarten students in the district.

High school students in the leadership academy wrote notes by hand to the kindergartners encouraging them to read, and to thank the teachers for their dedication to educating the young students.

The leader academy at Gateway High School is sponsored by Brian Wenger of Chick-Fil-A Miracle Mile in Monroeville. Nationally, the program empowers high school students to put leadership principles into practice through student-led community service projects that culminate in a year-end impact project.
