Savannah Plaskon, daughter of Juanita and Michael Plaskon of Monroeville, has graduated summa cum laude from Allegheny College.

A 2018 graduate of Gateway High School, Paskon received a bachelor of arts degree from Allegheny with a double major in political science and women and gender studies.

To fulfill requirements for a degree, Allegheny students must complete comprehensive senior projects in their majors. The senior project is a significant piece of independent study, research or creative work requiring an oral defense. Allegheny is one of the few institutions in the country that require an independent senior project prior to graduation.

Plaskon will continue her studies at the University of California Irvine, where she has been accepted into the PhD program for political science.
