It’s the weekend. Here are some ways to spend it.

Beer here

The Pittsburgh Winter Beerfest is Friday and Saturday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown.

Approximately 400 local, regional and hard-to-find craft beers from more than 130 breweries will be available. There will be live music, a silent disco and games. Proceeds benefit Animal Rescue Partners and Biggies Bullies, organizations that help animals find homes. There are various sessions.

Tickets are $70-$95. Designated driver tickets are $25.

Take the plunge

The 13th annual Pittsburgh Polar Plunge is Friday and Saturday outside of Acrisure Stadium on the North Shore.

Participants jump in a pool of water to raise money for Special Olympics Pennsylvania, an organization that provides year-round training and competition in 21 Olympic-type sports to more than 13,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities or closely related developmental disabilities.

On Friday, members of Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools and Law Enforcement Torch Run will participate.

New this year is a Happy Hour plunge from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. A general plunge will take place on Saturday beginning at 11:30 a.m.

There will be music by disc jockey DJ Eric and games on Saturday and food provided by Pitt Ohio. The forecast is a high of 51 degrees Friday and 46 degrees on Saturday, warmer than last year.

Flamingo Fest

The National Aviary on the North Side is hosting Flamingo Fest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Guests can participate in crafts, learn about flamingos from the experts at the Aviary and meet the flock in the newly renovated Wetlands habitat.

Tickets are $65 for a two-hour painting experience with artist Maria DeSimone Prascak of Maria’s Ideas on Saturday, where participants can create a flamingo portrait to take home. (Admission and materials are included.)

General admission is $17.95 for adults, $16.95 for seniors, $14.95 for children. Children under 2 are free.

Carrie Underwood

“American Idol” alum Carrie Underwood is performing at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at PPG Paints Arena, Uptown.

The Grammy award-winning singer’s most recent album “Denim & Rhinestones” has amassed more than 290 million global streams and nearly 120,000 global album sales to date.

Joining her on tour is country music singer Jimmie Allen.

One dollar from each ticket sold will be donated to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization that helps provide mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families and builds homes for injured veterans and first responders.

Tickets start at $66.

The Pittsburgh Golf and Travel Show is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Monroeville Convention Center.

See the latest in golf clubs, equipment and accessories as well as learn about travel opportunities. There will be interactive activities such as hitting a ball into an inflatable Velcro dartboard similar to a traditional dartboard for points to win a chance for a trip to the Myrtle Beach World Amateur Handicap Championship on Aug. 28-Sept. 1.

Test out new clubs, practice putting, attend an instructional show by golf professionals or take a lesson. New this year is what’s being called “Pittsburgh’s Largest 19th Hole.” There will be pool tables, foosball, corn hole, golden tees, air hockey, shuffleboard and a beer garden.

Each paid admission ticket comes with a complimentary subscription to Golf Magazine.

Tickets are $10 and available at the door — cash only. Children 10 and under are free.
