Pop culture, vinyl records, artisan gift wares and holiday music take the stage this weekend in the Pittsburgh area.
Comics and more
Doors open at 10 a.m. Friday for Steel City Con, Pittsburgh’s premier comic book and pop culture convention, at the Monroeville Convention Center, 209 Mall Blvd. The convention runs through Sunday.
Celebrities scheduled to appear include Chevy Chase, Charlie Hunnam, Paula Abdul and Elijah Wood. The event features more than 600 vendor and artist tables, celebrity meet-and-greets and panels and cosplay, trivia and costume contests.
Admission starts at $30; up to two children ages 10 and younger can enter free with a paid adult ticket.

Pittsburgh CLO will present its 31st annual production of “A Musical Christmas Carol,” beginning Friday at the Byham Theater, 101 Sixth St., Downtown.
Broadway veteran and Tony Award-winner Michael Cerveris takes on the iconic role of Ebenezer Scrooge, alongside a host of other familiar faces from the Charles Dickens’ classic holiday tale of redemption.
The production runs through Dec. 23. A sensory friendly performance is scheduled for 10 a.m. Dec. 17. American Sign Language interpreters are available for all dates.
Tickets are $48-$85, or $15-$20 for the sensory friendly show.
Guests can enter the theater 75 minutes before showtime to view the CLO’s Holiday Tree Display of 76 musical theater-themed trees of all shapes and sizes. They also are encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift for the Best of the Batch Foundation Toy Drive.

Artisan wares
The Winter Artists’ Market is planned for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media, 1047 Shady Ave., Shadyside.
More than 30 artists and artisans are scheduled to participate, offering jewelry, ceramics, prints, jewelry, woodwork, fiber arts and other wares. Refreshments will be available from Farmer x Baker and Trace Brewing.

Jackie Evancho sings
Songstress Jackie Evancho returns to her hometown for an all-ages concert of holiday favorites at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Carnegie of Homestead Music Hall, 510 E. 10th Ave., Munhall.
Evancho gained local fame singing the national anthem for the Pittsburgh Pirates, before taking the national stage with a second-place finish in the fifth season of “America’s Got Talent,” in 2010 when she was 10.
She has since released numerous albums and toured nationally. Her September release, “Carousel of Time,” covers the classic hits of singer/songwriter Joni Mitchell.

Vinyl enthusiasts can buy, sell and trade at the Pittsburgh Record Fest, set for 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Spirit, 242 51st St., Lawrenceville.
The all-ages event will include DJs spinning music, drink specials and food.
