Three police officers and a Mad Mex employee have tested positive for covid-19 in Monroeville.

This was confirmed Thursday by municipal officials and the restaurant’s Facebook page Thursday.

Monroeville Manager Tim Little said via email that the municipality “is following all Center for Disease Control guidelines with respect to positive tested employees in the workplace. Further, this incident has not affected the operation of the Monroeville Police Department or administration.”

Municipal officials declined to say when the officers were diagnosed, if they were hospitalized or any further information such as their ages or roles within the department.

Calls to police Chief Doug Cole were not immediately returned.

Mad Mex officials said via social media that they temporarily closed the facility “and our number one concern is the safety of our employees and guests.”

The employee last worked at the restaurant Tuesday, according to the post.

It’s unclear when the restaurant would reopen.
