A man found floating in the Allegheny River in June has been identified.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Paul Benes, 43, of Harborcreek in Erie County.

Benes’ body was found by boaters on June 20 near the 40th Street Bridge in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville section, according to Pittsburgh police.

The city’s river rescue team and police recovered Benes’ body just after 1 p.m.
