Suspect arrested in fatal Downtown Pittsburgh shooting; victim identified

Police arrested an 18-year-old man Thursday night in connection with the fatal shooting of a man that afternoon in Downtown Pittsburgh,.
Police charged Erique Collington, no address given, with criminal homicide, criminal conspiracy, tampering with physical evidence, and firearms violations.
The victim was identified Friday as Eugene Nance, 23, of Pittsburgh.
The shooting happened in the 700 block of Liberty Avenue around 2:20 p.m., according to Pittsburgh police Zone 2 Cmdr. Matt Lackner.
Lackner said police used surveillance footage to track two suspects to the North Side, where officers arrested them. Police said they recovered three guns.
Officers found Nance on the sidewalk shot multiple times. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, Lackner said, but later died.
Officers are investigating the incident.
Authorities closed Liberty Avenue between Wood Street and Sixth Avenue and put area schools on lockdown after the shooting. The street reopened and the school lockdown was lifted about an hour later.
