Man arrested, accused of leading police on a chase in Franklin Park, Ross
A North Versailles man was arrested after fleeing from police after a stop early Tuesday morning, according Ross police.
A Franklin Park Police officer stopped Kasey Gusty, 36, on Route 79 southbound around 12:30 a.m. due to suspicion that Gusty was driving while on a DUI-related suspension. As the officer attempted to get Gusty out of the car, Gusty sped away, according to police. The officer was thrown from the side of the car, suffering minor injuries, according to Ross police.
A short time later security cameras spotted Gusty’s car on Perrysville Avenue in Ross Township. Just after 1 a.m. Ross officers spotted the car speeding down King Avenue.
They lost sight of the car, but soon found it abandoned on John Street.
Officers and a police dog tracked Gusty, finding him hiding behind a nearby house. He was in possession of 58 stamp bags of heroin, according to police.
Police charged Gusty with aggravated assault, three counts of recklessly endangering another person, obstructing administration of law, resisting arrest, fleeing police, disorderly conduct and driving with a suspended license.
He is being held in Allegheny County Jail without bail, according to online court documents.
A preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert L. Ford is scheduled for April 6.
