A Pittsburgh man wanted for questioning as part of an Allegheny County homicide investigation was arrested Wednesday on drug charges.

Tyrell Revis, 18, was charged in federal court with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and crack cocaine after he was stopped by police in Carrick.

A Munhall officer, who knew Revis was wanted for questioning for an open county homicide case, had been surveilling Revis as he drove a red Ford Focus, according to a criminal complaint. The Munhall officer then contacted Allegheny County Det. Joshua Stegena, telling him that Revis had been seen meeting with a person known to traffic large quantities of heroin and fentanyl.

The Munhall detective followed Revis into the city of Pittsburgh, where Stegena, who was in an unmarked car, intercepted the surveillance, the complaint said.

Stegena began following Revis’ vehicle at Becks Run Road and Wagner Street, with Revis traveling about 60 to 65 mph in a 25 mph speed zone.

After Revis turned left on Brownsville Road and went through a red light, Stegena pulled the car over.

According to the complaint, after Stegena turned on his lights and siren, both Revis and his female passenger “were observed to be frantically moving about the vehicle.”

Then, it continues, Revis was seen “twisting his upper torso to the right and made several throwing/shoving motions toward the center of the rear passenger floorboard.”

Police said there was a minor in the back seat, as well.

The officers approached the car, held the occupants at gunpoint and told them to show their hands, which the complaint said, they ultimately did.

After both occupants got out of the car, detectives said they saw multiple bricks of suspected heroin or fentanyl on the front, passenger seat.

According to the complaint, Revis claimed ownership of the drugs.

Police later found a Glock handgun on the rear passenger floorboard, directly behind the driver seat.

Inside a diaper bag in the car, police found a knotted sandwich bag with 18 grams of suspected crack cocaine.

After obtaining a search warrant for the car, police found 250 stamp bags, marked “NyQuil” in green ink, that tested positive for fentanyl on the car’s front, passenger seat.

They found 1,500 additional stamp bags, some marked “NyQuil,” and others marked “The God Father” in the center console. Police said these bags also tested for fentanyl.
