Pittsburgh’s P.J. McArdle Roadway is set to close for five days for landslide work.
The closure of the steep road linking the Liberty Bridge to Mount Washington is scheduled to start at 5 a.m. Wednesday. Officials said the road will reopen by 7 p.m. Sunday.
During the closure, a contractor will remove debris and other materials that could slide from the Mt. Washington hillside.
There will not be any turn-only lane onto McArdle from Downtown while the landslide remediation is underway.
As a result, instead of three outbound lanes on the Liberty Bridge from Downtown during afternoon rush hour, there will be two inbound and two outbound.
City officials recommended using Saw Mill Run Boulevard and Boggs Avenue to detour around the closure.
