A 15-year-old boy is dead after a shooting early Tuesday in Pittsburgh’s Allentown neighborhood, authorities said.

The Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Mohamed Hussein

Police said they responded at about 10:45 a.m. to the 700 block of Excelsior Street for reports of a person who had been shot.

Police said they found Hussein had been shot in the torso. They administered aid until medics arrived and took him to the hospital in critical condition.

Police later provided an update stating that he had died at the hospital.

The incident is being investigated by the Violent Crime Unit.
