Launch of ‘Remembering Rennerdale’

The first book to document Rennerdale’s History, “Remembering Rennerdale,” is being launched to commemorate the Collier neighborhood’s 125th anniversary.

Buy your special edition copy of the book and reserve tickets for two at the launch ceremony, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 24 at First United Presbyterian Church of Rennerdale, featuring authors Margie Feitt and Doug McLaren. Kathleen Zimbicki, local artist, offers a free show of her “Rennerdale Homes in Watercolors” from noon to 5.

Admission to the launch ceremony requires the purchase of one book at $60.00, which includes the book, shipping, sales tax and $10 donation to the Rennerdale Volunteer Fire Department.

History programs in Bridgeville

Bridgeville Area Historical Society is resuming monthly programs, held in the Chartiers Room at the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department, 370 Commercial St.

Programs start at 7:30 p.m. and are open to the public:

• Operation Mincemeat, Sept 27. Learn how a room full of spies, a submarine and a corpse helped ensure Allied Victory in Sicily during World War II. Presented by Dana DelBianco.

• Jeopardy History, Oct. 25, presented by Todd DePastino, executive director of the Veterans Breakfast Club.

South Hills Women’s Club

The South Hills Women’s Club meets at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Scott Park Lodge. Chris Rodell will present a program on golf legend Arnold Palmer of Latrobe.

The club meets monthly the second Tuesday of the month at lodge. New members are welcome.

Ukrainian Food Festival

The Parish of Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church will host its 11th annual Ukrainian Food Festival from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 9 and 10.

Featured are food from the kitchen and outdoor grill, along with a basket and church tours at 1, 3 and 5 p.m.

Concert scheduled in Collier

Collier Township’s Concerts in the Park series wraps up with a performance by Identity Crisis, playing music of the ’70s and ’80s, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at Collier Community Park, 5 Lobaugh St.

All ages are welcome. Dogs are prohibited.

Westminster fall fitness

Westminster Presbyterian Church’s fall fitness features barre sculpt, a fun, energetic workout fuses classical ballet, yoga, aerobics and Pilates to help sculpt the body and improve posture, overall strength and balance.

No ballet experience is necessary, and all fitness levels are welcome. Nonslip, grip barre or yoga socks are required.

The program is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays from Sept. 13 through Oct. 25 at the church, 2040 Washington Road, Upper St. Clair. Cost is $49.
