Students from Aspinwall's CDTCA deliver holiday cheer to UPMC St. Margaret
Students from the third and fourth grade classes of Christ the Divine Teacher Catholic Academy helped decorate the courtyard of UPMC St. Margaret hospital with their handmade ornaments on Dec. 6.
“Many of our patients aren’t sure if they will be home for the holidays,” said St. Margaret Foundation President Mary Lee Gannon. “Patients tell us that to see the children and their ornaments on our Christmas tree makes them smile and reminds them of fond holiday memories.”
The students and their teachers walked to the hospital from the Aspinwall school. They decorated the courtyard, waved to patients and sang holiday carols.
The children received cookies and candy canes, many of them asked to leave their candy cane for a patient.
People interested in brightening the lives of patients who are hospitalized during the holiday with a poinsettia or reindeer LED candle light may make a gift to the Holiday Gifts for Patients Program at www.stmargaretfoundation.org/donate.
