Fox Chapel Area School District has changed the pickup location for free meals that are distributed Wednesdays.

Food should be picked up at the high school entrance 14, near the receiving area.

Pickup times are from noon to 1:30 p.m.

All students in the district are currently eligible to receive free breakfasts and lunches through a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) program.

Weekly free food distributions are continuing for families who are attending school online or in the hybrid model.

Fully in-person elementary students will receive all of their meals in school.

Anyone ordering pickup meals must fill out a Google form by 10 p.m. the Tuesday prior to pickup.

FCA grads excel in competition

Three Fox Chapel Area High School 2020 graduates placed in the Draw the Lines PA legislative redistricting map competition.

Jacob Rendall won first place in the Regional – Congressional Youth West division and was named the runner-up in the Statewide – Congressional Youth division.

Honorable mentions went to Julia Cody and Sina Shaikh in the Regional – Congressional Youth West division.

Entries were submitted in the spring of 2020 when the students were seniors.

Draw the Lines PA is a civic education and engagement initiative sponsored by the Committee of Seventy, a group that provides teaching resources, digital tools and data so anyone can draw their own election maps.

A total of 1,234 entries were received.

Speaking of excelling

Four Fox Chapel Area School District students placed at the annual M & M Lake Erie Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament.

Junior Alaina Kaslewicz won second place in Impromptu Speaking, and the team of senior Jackson Romero and junior Ian Mackey-Piccolo was awarded third place in Policy Debate.

Dorseyville Middle School eighth-grade student Swati Mylarappa won fifth place in Student Congress.

The tournament, sponsored by Mercyhurst Preparatory School and McDowell High School, was held virtually Nov. 7 with about 185 students from 18 Western Pennsylvania schools participating.
