Registration is open for the St. Margaret Foundation’s Brian Demchak Hope Challenge presented by PNC.

Participants complete a virtual 5K at 3.1 miles, or a distance participants prefer, choosing their own route and location, even in a swimming pool, and complete it anytime from May 14-May 20.

The registration fee is waived for anyone fundraising $50 or more. Proceeds from the race provide medication, transportation to chemotherapy and other treatments, insulin, walkers and more for under-resourced patients of UPMC St. Margaret. The first 30 participants to raise $100 will get a Lands’ End St. Margaret Foundation tote bag.

For more information or to register, visit: https://www.stmargaretfoundation.org/challenge or call 412-784-4205.

Each participant will receive a race shirt and a finisher’s metal in the mail. People must register by April 21 to ensure their preferred T-shirt size.

Brian Demchak and his mother, Marie Louise “Tina” Demchak, ran in the foundation’s 5K until Brian passed away in 2016 at the age of 57. The foundation has a fund in his memory to help provide assistance to under-resourced patients.

The second annual UPMC St. Margaret Lunchtime Wellness Walk in RIDC O’Hara is scheduled for May 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
