Several organizations have come together to provide a unique experience in Sharpsburg.

The inaugural Art and History Stroll is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday along Main Street between Fifth and 13th streets.

It’s organized by officials from the Sharpsburg Business Group, Sharpsburg Neighborhood Association, Second Harvest, PGHPrint Ship and the Sharpsburg Historical Commission, which will have three exhibits within the stroll.

“After the pandemic and assorted construction, it’s been hard for small business owners,” said Nanci Goldberg, SBG president and owner of Ketchup City Creative. “We have a small business district. We wanted to get people to see what was going on. We came up with a self-guided stroll that will take you up and down Main Street.”

There are 20 stops along the way. Maps will be available at the Sharpsburg Neighborhood Organization building 511 S. Main St.

The stroll turns at 13th Street by North Canal Street and back up the north side of Main Street.

Participants can get a free raffle ticket at each mapped location for a chance to win a basket filled with more than $1,400 worth of items from more than 35 businesses. Raffle tickets cannot be purchased.

There will be live music and art at various locations.

Sharpsburg Historical Commission exhibits will be at 511 S. Main St., Mt. Olive Baptist Church at 1020 Main St. and the Sharpsburg Family Worship Center at 610 Clay St.

Sharpsburg Community Library will host a window decorating session from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1212 Main St.

Visitors can help turn the library’s Main Street window into an ocean scene. Supplies will be provided. No registration is required.

This year’s summer reading theme is Oceans of Possibilities.

Free seeds will be available at the community garden next to the library while supplies last.

Second Harvest Parklet’s grand opening is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Positive Painting Project will be at Second Harvest during that time.

Roots of Faith, an outreach organization in the borough, will have its auction and kickoff from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 800 Main St.

Goldberg said organizers are hoping for good weather and a lot of people strolling along this weekend.

“It’s really to encourage people to experience Sharpsburg and all the fun things we have and see the town,” she said. “We really embrace art in our town, and we’re excited about that. People come to Sharpsburg perhaps for a beer. We want them to stay and linger and see other things.

“It’s supposed to be a beautiful day. It’s a Saturday in June. There’s a lot going on. Anyone that does (participate) will have a great experience. We can always build off of that.”

More information is available at the Sharpsburg Business Group’s website and Facebook page.
