Cub Scout invite
Cub Scout Pack 381 invites all boys and girls grade K-5 to attend a Back to Scouting Picnic on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 2-6 p.m. at the Piedmont Shelter at Camp Guyasuta, 300 23rd Street in Sharpsburg.
Kids can learn about all that Scouting has to offer — hiking, camping, nature, science, citizenship, first aid, sports, and more.

Pollinator garden tour
The North Area Environmental Council and Penn State Master Gardener Leslie Anthony will offer a tour of the North Park demonstration pollinator garden to help people learn how to plant a similar garden that would look nice in any yard.
The tour is Aug. 22 from 7-8 p.m. at the North Park Demonstration Garden at Babcock Boulevard and and Wildwood Road. The rain date is Aug. 24 from 7-8 p.m.

Route 28 restrictions
Single-lane restrictions on northbound Route 28 between the RIDC Park (Exit 10) and the Russelton/Creighton (Exit 13) interchanges expected to last through late November.
Long-term, single-lane restrictions and shoulder closure will occur on northbound Route 28 daily from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. Crews from Swank Construction Co. will perform shoulder and lane patching and paving work.
The shoulders in both directions between RIDC Park (Exit 10) and the Russelton/Creighton (Exit 13) interchanges will be intermittently restricted when necessary.
The work is part of the $27.68 million highway restoration project that will include milling and resurfacing, concrete pavement preservation, bridge rehabilitation and preservation, guide rail and drainage improvements
