The wooded grounds of Camp Guyasuta in O’Hara will be the setting for hair-raising Halloween frights.
Zombies, ghosts and goblins will fill the 175-acre campus for the 16th annual Haunted Guyasuta celebration, with family-friendly fun followed by spine-chilling scares later in the night.
“Every year we look forward to sharing the camp with the community and inviting them to enjoy the property,” Director Kim Daniher said.
The event is 3 to 9 p.m. Oct. 18. The first three hours are “no scare,” catering to families with young children.
There will be a bonfire, hayride, pumpkins and hot chocolate. The Trading Post will be open with food for sale.
Later in the night, all bets are off. An eerie experience is promised on the quarter-mile walking trail and more thrills lurk near the climbing wall.
A highlight of the event will be the 600-foot zip line, open to people 11 and older.
The 1,000-foot valley-to-valley zipline will also be open for an extra charge. A limited number of tickets will be sold.
More than 1,000 people are expected. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
New Assistant Ranger Shannon Held said the excitement building up to the once-a-year event has been palpable.
“This is my first Haunted Guyasuta and I’m so excited to help with the preparations and see the process to make the event happen.”
Cost is $25 until Oct. 17 or $30 at the gate.
