Sharpsburg road work

Sixth Street in Sharpsburg is expected to be closed through Dec. 13, so that PennDOT crews can do road work.

PennDOT has announced that Sixth Street will be close to traffic between Clay Street and Penn Street so crews can complete sanitary and storm water work and utility relocation. Traffic will be detoured from Main Street to Ninth Street heading north, then motorists can turn left onto Penn Street and follow Penn Street back to Sixth Street.

The work is part of a $3.83 million drainage improvement project. Crews will work to reduce combined sewer overflows and remove storm water flow from the Ravine Street stream and Route 28. Additional work includes pavement reconstruction, curb ramp construction, utility adjustments, and pavement markings.
