Fox Chapel Area High School senior Marley Pistella is one of 30 U.S. finalists in the Junk Kouture contest, that challenges students aged 13-18 to design, upcycle and create high-end couture from 100% recycled materials.

Marley created a high fashion couture outfit titled, “In Bloom,” from used jeans and other found fabrics.

Only two students from Pennsylvania were named among the 30 finalists from the U.S.

Marley now moves on to the New York City Final that will be streamed on YouTube May 9. Other city finals will be held in Abu Dhabi, Dublin, London, Milan, New York, and Paris. Top ten designs from each city final will advance to the Junk Kouture World Final.

Junk Kouture Operations Ireland Ltd. organizes the competition.
