Fox Chapel Area School District will host a covid-19 vaccination clinic Aug. 10. Max Snyder, 14, of North Huntington receives his first dose of a covid-19 vaccine at a clinic at Norwin High School on May 14.

Fox Chapel Area School District will offer a covid-19 vaccination clinic Tuesday, Aug. 10, about two weeks ahead of the first day of school Aug. 24.

The Pfizer vaccine will be available to people ages 12 and older during the event at O’Hara Elementary School, 115 Cabin Lane.

Sponsored by Rite-Aid, the clinic will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. A clinic for second doses will be Aug. 31.

Anyone with an appointment should bring their photo ID, insurance card and consent form. People 65 and older should bring their Medicare card.

Since vaccine clinics first opened to all Pennsylvanians in April, 677,765 people in Allegheny County have received two vaccine doses and 65,312 people have received one dose, according to data from the state Department of Health.

The district hosted a vaccine clinic earlier this year but it was not clear how many people received the vaccine through the event.

The school board is expected to vote on the district’s return-to-school plan on Aug. 9, which, as proposed, includes masks for all students, staff and teachers.

Requiring masks is something the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended school districts do, particularly for unvaccinated students and staff.
