Fox Chapel-area municipal races in November are becoming more apparent as Allegheny County Elections Division officials updated the list of write-in party nominations.

The list of write-in winners and status of acceptance was updated as of June 26.

A person needs at least 10 write-in votes to qualify as a write-in candidate.

Here is how things look so far:

Fox Chapel

Jonathan Colton will join incumbents Betsy Monroe and Frederick Leech on the Fox Chapel Democratic ticket for three four-year council seats. He was the top write-in vote-getter with 220 of 301 write-ins cast.

Monroe and Leech were the only two Democrats on the May primary ballot for the three seats.

Other Fox Chapel Democratic write-ins who qualified were incumbent Thomas Karet (41) and firefighter Michael Pohl (13).

Pohl was the only Republican on the primary ballot for three seats.

He will be joined by GOP write-in winners Leech and Colton. They earned 80 and 67 write-ins, respectively, out of the 244 write-in votes cast. Karet was third with 60 write-in votes.

Aspinwall

Democrat Louis Curcio Jr. received 79 of the 144 write-ins cast on the Republican ticket for three four-year seats, edging out Sharon Donnick (78) who was on the primary ballot.

Curcio will join incumbent Timothy McLaughlin (141) and Terry Nelson Taylor (110) on the November ballot.

Democratic challengers will be incumbent Heth Turnquist (381), Mark Chimel II (363) and incumbent Patti McCaffrey (360). They bumped out challengers Curcio (325) and David Brown (286).

Blawnox

There were no Republicans on the ballot for three four-year seats, and only 20 write-in votes were cast.

Elections officials did not have anyone named on its write-in candidates list for the borough, which would indicate no one got at least 10 votes. Only four write-ins were cast on the Democratic side.

Democratic primary candidate winners were incumbent Kathryn Specht-Coban (139), Elaine Palmer (138) and John D. Simmons Jr. (131). Charles Stipetich earned 75 Democratic votes.

Indiana

No one got enough write-in votes to knock off anyone seeking party nods for township supervisor seats in any district, and no write-in winners were named in the county elections list.

O’Hara

Republican Shamus Petrucelli earned 107 write-ins out of 166 write-in votes cast to be on the Democratic ticket for two four-year seats. He will join Paul Cullen, who was the only candidate for a Democratic nod on the primary ballot.

W. Robert Strohm Jr. and Petrucelli ran unopposed for Republican nods for the two council seats, and only seven GOP write-in votes were cast.

Sharpsburg

Diana Lynn Oliver and Corey Egwrube Ochai each earned enough write-ins to be on both the Republican and Democratic ticket for a two-year council seat.

They earned 17 and 12 votes, respectively, for the Republican ticket and 25 and 160, respectively, for the Democratic ticket

No one was listed on the primary ballot for either party for that seat.

Candidates for another two-year Sharpsburg seat have yet to be decided.

David Breingan was appointed June 22 to fill a seat vacated by Councilwoman Carrie Tongram.

Since the vacancy developed after the May primary, Sharpsburg’s Republican and Democratic committees each will select a candidate to run in the general election. The seat will be on the November ballot as a two-year term.

Fox Chapel Area School Board

No one got enough write-in votes to knock off anyone seeking party nods for any school board sea, and no write-in winners were named in the county elections list.
