First-ever Cookie Walk to benefit Cooper-Siegel, Sharpsburg community libraries
Sharpsburg Community Library Clerk Jamie Cozza loves to bake, but she enjoys a sweet treat even more when it comes from someone else’s kitchen.
She plans to stock up on her favorite, peanut butter kiss cookies, during the first-ever Cooper-Siegel and Sharpsburg community libraries Cookie Walk.
The event, 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 9, is open to the public to get their pre-made holiday treats.
It will be hosted at the main branch, 403 Fox Chapel Road.
“I think it’s an exciting fundraiser,” Cozza said.
“Everyone loves cookies, don’t they?”
Library staff is seeking volunteers to bake and donate to the event, sharing their talents and helping raise money to purchase new collections.
Executive Director Jill McConnell said she hopes cookie trays abound with a variety to meet everyone’s sweet tooth.
She hopes to have 1,000 cookies for purchase.
“We’re looking forward to hosting our first cookie walk fundraiser,” McConnell said.
Cost will be $8 per dozen.
McConnell chose to pair to the bake sale with another of the library’s highly popular events, making it doubly sweet.
The event will be held in conjunction with the gingerbread decorating program which draws large crowds of children and their families to the library every year.
“Families will be able to take home some tasty holiday treats along with their holiday decoration,” she said.
Cozza plans to get busy baking at least four dozen snickerdoodles and a tray of lemon bars.
“I love to bake and I’m especially willing to do it for a good cause,” she said.
Anyone who wants to donate cookies for the fundraiser can call Office Manager Dana at 412-828-9520, ext. 5011 or email zinzad@coopersiegelcommunitylibrary.org.
