Love was in the air at the Sharpsburg Community Library for its Heart-a-Palooza event this month.

A handful of Fox Chapel Area School District families participated in the pop-up led by library education and engagement coordinator Alison Babusci on Feb. 1.

She hosts a free family drop-in on the first Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1212 Main St.

Registration is not required, and there are different activities and themes each time.

February’s theme was “hearts” in anticipation of Valentine’s Day.

Crafts included making heart faces with googly eyes and different-colored string wrapped around cardboard cutout hearts, creating heart ornaments and painting.

“We had a great time,” Babusci said after the event. “We have something almost every Saturday, but we also understand that Saturdays are a busy day that people are trying to get a lot of other things done and sports games and everything else. We’ll keep doing it for whoever needs a little fun on a Saturday.”

March’s theme will be women’s history, focusing on female artists, authors, activists and others.

More information about library programs is available by calling 412-781-0783 or emailing babuscia2@einetwork.net.
