Editor’s note: According to the Realtor, this property has sold.

Tranquility and nature blend seamlessly in a classic mid-century modern residence on the market in Fox Chapel.

The property at 227 Hunt Road is listed for $1.6 million.

Built in 1960, the home has four bathrooms and two fireplaces.

Howard Hanna Realtor and listing agent Ali Gumberg described the property as a “ranch-style” home because the primary bedroom and living area are located on the main floor.

The lower level was remodeled into a finished suite, complete with a new elevator.

The owner originally intended to remain in the home for the remainder of her life but recently had to relocate.

“This is a gorgeous house that’s perfect. It’s quiet and a peaceful retreat. It’s so close to the restaurants and coffee shops, but it’s tucked away and private,” Gumberg said.

Floor-to-ceiling windows are a focal point and bathe the interior with light, providing an almost treehouse-like feel.

“I love the kitchen. The owner completely updated it. The kitchen overlooks the entire front yard, and it’s relaxing,” Gumberg said.

The property has 3.2 acres of mostly flat land, suitable for a pool and a fenced-in garden.

The lower level includes a second kitchen and an entire suite with a full bathroom, office, sitting area and bedroom.

The 2,500-square-foot house has two primary bedrooms, but a sunroom with an ensuite bathroom could be added as a third bedroom.

“There’s room to grow, and I think this would be great for a couple that wants to stay in Fox Chapel and just downsize,” Gumberg said.

Finding a ranch home in the Fox Chapel area can be challenging, according to Gumberg.

“I think some people have big families — and it’s up in the woods here and people want to see the views and the homes are bigger,” Gumberg said. “They’re just really hard to come by, and not everyone lives like that anymore.”

The kitchen features new Bosch appliances, maple wood cabinets and Silestone counters.

The annual real estate taxes are $15,887, according to Allegheny County public tax online tax records.

“It’s just a manageable home,” Gumberg added.
