Christmas in Guyasuta features winter wonderland with elves, lights and Santa
People can escape to a winter wonderland complete with a bonfire and rides through twinkling lights during the fourth annual Christmas in Guyasuta celebration.
The event is scheduled Nov. 26 at the wooded grounds of Camp Guyasuta, just off 23rd Street in the Sharpsburg business district.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will mingle with the crowd and be available for photos.
“There is no better way to get into the Christmas spirit than to start the holiday season with us at Camp Guyasuta,” Ranger Mike Daniher said.
The event is scheduled from 4 to 9 p.m. and will feature illuminations, gingerbread men and elves among the 175-acre campus.
Activities will include games, crafts and letters to Santa. Concessions will be available.
It takes about a month to install the decorations, scattered along the trails, to create selfie-worthy photo locations.
“New this year, you can climb on our ropes course under Christmas lights,” Daniher said.
“The camp Trading Post will be open, and vendors will be selling crafts and various items.”
It’s a unique way to get a jump on holiday shopping and support local artists, he said.
Advanced tickets will be discounted at $10 per person through Nov. 24.
Tickets at the door cost $15.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit operating expenses at the Boy Scout-run camp.
