Blawnox observes Memorial Day with Parade, memorial service

The Blawnox Memorial Day Parade started the Sunoco Station on Freeport Road and ended at the Blawnox Veterans Memorial at the corner of Freeport Road and North Avenue, where a special service was conducted at the Monument at the conclusion of the parade.

Blawnox observed Memorial Day on Monday, May 30 with a parade along Freeport Road, a memorial service at the Blawnox Veterans Memorial and a community picnic at Blawnox Community Park.

Blawnox Mayor Anthony Gross was the master of ceremonies and U.S. Army SPC 4 Ken Messing placed a wreath at the monument.

Among the scheduled speakers were State Rep. Anthony DeLuca, state Sen. Lindsey Williams and Blawnox Council President Debbie Laskey.
