Doggie treats were part of Blawnox Night Out on Aug. 2. The advocacy group Best of Blawnox hosted a dog walk to coincide with the annual National Night Out event.

Safety checks, doggie treats and free fresh produce awaited crowds who participated in the Blawnox National Night Out.

About 150 people converged Aug. 2 on Blawnox Community Park to celebrate the borough and all it has to offer.

The advocacy group Best of Blawnox hosted “Ice Cream with a Cop” as well as a dog walk to coincide with the annual National Night Out.

“Our hope with all of our events is to promote the idea that when our community comes together, it promotes positive results,” said Organizer Diane Casile.

Several residents brought their furry four-leggged friends for a walk that began at the corner of Lewis Avenue and Fountain Street and ended at the park where there were doggie bags for participants.

The borough’s first responders were waiting for a meet-and-greet with residents and police offered car seat safety checks.

Volunteers who coordinated the borough’s community garden were also on hand with free produce.

“I believe that Blawnox is a great place to live, to work and to enjoy outdoor and social activities,” Casile said. “We hope that all of our residents and those in surrounding communities want to come out and enjoy everything there is to offer.”
